Right about now you might be asking "Why should I give any of my hard earned dollars to NorthStar Community Church?" Well, first let's make it clear that you don't have to give anything to NorthStar, but the Bible does make it clear you should give back some of your money to God. So if you don't give it here, please give it to another church or charity, or to an individual or family in need.
So why does the Bible tell us to give? Well, we believe it mostly comes down to not so much a money thing as a heart thing. God wants our hearts to be focused on Him, not on our money or possessions. The biblical word for giving back to God is tithing. Tithing is meant to be a reminder that everything you have is from God, so the money you donate is a way of showing where your heart is.
Where you give is between you and God. This, we’re sure of though: as long as you’re giving back to God, He’ll use what you give and make it work in ways more amazing than you can imagine!
